Barrhead Travel creates 40 new jobs in Barrow office

A Scottish travel company has opened its first office in England, creating 40 jobs.

Glasgow-based Barrhead Travel, which specialises in cruises, has opened a call centre at Emlyn Hughes House in Barrow, Cumbria.

Managing Director Jacqueline Dobson said the plan was to expand further in the town over the next six months.

Barrhead Travel, a 37-year-old family-run business, employs 550 people in 34 offices across Scotland.

Ms Dobson said opening the Barrow office was part of the company's plans to "expand south".
