A South Yorkshire man who has been missing for more than a week is found in Whitby.

Ben Hey, 25, from Monk Bretton, had last been seen at the Dry Dock pub in Leeds on 4 May.

South Yorkshire Police said he was found by North Yorkshire officers at about 04:00 BST on Sunday.

His family, who handed out leaflets and started a Facebook group in a bid to find him, said they were relieved he had been found safe and well.

The 25-year-old's father, Brian Hey, said: "He's exhausted.

"He's done a lot of walking on the east coast so he's exhausted, cold and a bit confused but it got to the point where he was ready to come home.

"Fortunately the police were there at the right time and they were able to put us in touch with him and fetch him home."
