Fourteen-year-old girl raped in Warrington

A 14-year-old girl was raped by a man who approached her in a Cheshire town in the early hours of Saturday.

The teenager was walking along Northway in Warrington at about 03:30 BST when two men asked her for the time.

She walked on to Winwick Road where another man tried to talk to her.

He then raped her but was disturbed by a noise nearby and ran off along Winwick Road. The victim went home and reported the incident to police.

The offender is described as white, in his 50s, of stocky build with stubble on his face and stubbly hair.

He was wearing a white short sleeved top with black writing on.

Cheshire Police are now making house-to-house inquiries and studying CCTV from the area.

Patrols have been stepped up and anyone with any information is being urged to speak to local officers.

Det Sgt Mike Evans said: "The incident took place in the early hours of the morning and we are appealing for anyone who witnessed what happened or was in the area at the time and has seen anyone acting suspiciously to contact us.

"We are also keen for the two men who stopped and spoke to the victim to come forward."
