An inmate who failed to return to an open prison in Kent after working in the community has handed himself in.

Kent Police said Jamie Frater, a detainee at Blantyre House in Goudhurst, handed himself in at Poole police station in Dorset.

He went to the police station at 23:30 BST on Thursday following contact with his family and is expected to be returned to prison in Kent later.

Chief Insp Adrian Futers said Frater was arrested without incident.

Frater had links to the Dorset and Hampshire areas and Kent Police worked with the two forces in the search for him.

He was last seen at a charity shop in Headcorn at 10:00 BST on Monday.
