Worcester to Dorridge trains delayed by damaged cable

A damaged signalling cable caused problems for early commuters travelling from Worcester to Dorridge.

Network Rail said engineers had been working through Wednesday night to repair the "severely damaged" cable between Cradley Heath and Old Hill.

London Midlands and Chiltern Railways routes have been affected throughout the day.

The cable was repaired on Thursday afternoon, but Network Rail said delays of up to 20 minutes were expected.

The company apologised to affected passengers.

Chiltern passengers were allowed to use London Midland services on "any reasonable route".

London Midland passengers were told they could use West Midlands Travel's number nine bus and the Metro service on any reasonable route.
