Four in court over death of inmate

Four men have appeared in court charged with murdering a prison inmate.

Adnan Rafiq, 25, from Moseley, Birmingham, was found with serious injuries at HMP Hewell, near Redditch, Worcestershire, on Monday.

He was taken to hospital in a critical condition but died on Thursday evening.

Jahnel Faure, 28, Jermaine Christie, 27, Paul Coulter, 27, and Barry Mundle, 34, appeared before magistrates. They were returned to prison custody and are due at crown court on Tuesday.

Mr Faure is due at Worcester Crown Court, after appearing at Kidderminster Magistrates' Court.

Mr Christie and Mr Coulter, who appeared at South Worcestershire Magistrates Court in Worcester, are due at Birmingham Crown Court along with Mr Mundle, who appeared at Redditch Magistrates' Court.

West Mercia Police said Mr Faure was originally from West Bromwich, Mr Christie was originally from Birmingham and later Telford, Mr Coulter was originally from Swansea and Mr Mundle was originally from Wolverhampton.
