Two rugby players from a team in Warrington who attacked a referee after a game have received lifetime bans from the Rugby Football League.

Sean Evans and Dale Else, who played for Golborne Parkside, assaulted Callum Lee after a North West Counties match with Chorley Panthers on 6 May 2012.

Evans and Else, both 19, pleaded guilty and were fined £200 plus costs at Chorley Magistrates Court in July.

The governing body ruled the ban should not be reviewed for five years.

Evans and Else were each ordered to pay £85 costs and £100 compensation to the referee, who was aged 19 at the time of the assault.
