Warnham police van crash: Woman in 'critical' condition

A crash between a car and an unmarked police van that left a woman in a critical condition is to be investigated by the police watchdog.

The 34-year-old woman was taken to Kings College Hospital, in London, with head and internal injuries following the collision on Friday.

Sussex Police said her Ford Fiesta was in a collision with the Surrey Police van on the A29 at Warnham, West Sussex.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission has been informed.

Police described the woman's condition as critical but stable.

The van's driver, a Surrey Police officer, was taken to hospital with shock and minor injuries, the spokesman added.

Sussex police is appealing for witnesses.
