Police have renewed an appeal for witnesses of an assault at a taxi rank in Warwickshire that led to the death of a Merseyside man.

David Ryding, 26, of Moreton, Wirral, was attacked in Market Place, Rugby, at about 05:00 BST on 7 July and died in hospital the following day.

A 21-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder remains on conditional bail.

Det Ch Insp Ally Wright said some witnesses of the attack could be "unaware that someone died".

Mr Wright, who is leading the investigation for Warwickshire Police, said: "I am certain others who were in the area would have seen and heard what went on.

"However, it is possible they might not have understood the severity of what occurred and are unaware that someone died.

"I owe it to the grieving family to provide answers relating to David's death."

Anyone with information about the attack on the married father is urged to contact the force.
