Terror police arrest man at Heathrow

A 19-year-old man has been arrested at Heathrow Airport on suspicion of preparing for acts of terrorism.

He was detained by officers from the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit at 15:00 BST on Thursday as he got off a plane from Jordan, police said.

The arrest was pre-planned and intelligence led. The suspect did not pose any risk to the flight, West Midlands Police said.

The man, from Coventry, is being held in the West Midlands area.

On Saturday, a district judge granted officers extra time to question the suspect, who could remain in custody until Thursday.
