Car company Bentley is to spend £40m expanding its headquarters in a scheme it says will create 300 jobs.

It is building a new research and development (R&D) centre at Crewe, Cheshire, housing 1,300 engineers.

A total of 300 new posts will be created within engineering, manufacturing, quality, sales and marketing and project management.

There would be a "further significant number of jobs" within the supply chain, Cheshire East Council said.

The council said it had "worked intensively" with the company to support its expansion "by unlocking key sites" next to its existing operation.
