Men held over Norwegian ex-naval ship bribes

Two men have been arrested over the alleged bribing of a foreign public official to help in the purchase of six ex-naval vessels.

A man in his 40s from Alfreton, Derbyshire, and a man in his 50s from East Molesey, Surrey, were held in an operation with Norwegian authorities.

They are alleged to have paid more than $150,000 (£100,000) in to a Norwegian official's personal bank account.

A third man was also arrested in Norway, City of London Police said.

The two men arrested in the UK are believed to have been involved in an international risk business for the maritime industry.

They are accused of paying the Norwegian official to help secure the sale of six decommissioned ex-naval vessels.
