Tributes have been paid to a "devoted loving husband" and father who was killed when a lorry crushed his car.

Steven Copping 49, from Hildenborough, Kent, suffered fatal injuries when the container truck overturned on the A27 near Polegate, East Sussex on Thursday.

In a statement, his family said he was "funny, friendly and selfless with a massive heart".

A 53-year-old lorry driver from Wiltshire was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Mr Copping's family said: "He was loved by everyone who crossed his path.

"He will be sadly missed by those he loved and those who loved him.

"We feel blessed to have had him in our lives for as long as we did. He will never be forgotten. He was our everything."

A lorry travelling ahead of Mr Copping's Volvo took evasive action, but its load of scaffolding hit a VW Transporter van, according to Sussex Police.

The arrested man was released on bail until 27 May.
