HMP Leyhill prisoner Daniel Ward absconds from open prison

A prisoner serving a sentence for wounding, assault and offensive weapon offences has absconded from an open prison in South Gloucestershire.

Daniel Ward, 34, from Macclesfield, failed to return to HMP Leyhill following his release on temporary licence, police said.

He was last seen in the centre of Bristol at 12:30 GMT on Thursday.

Ward, about 5ft 10in (1.77m) tall and of slim build, has tattoos on his left hand including a small skull.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact officers.
