A man has been remanded in custody by a court in Bedfordshire charged with the murder of retired Lt Col Riley Workman.

The 83-year-old former army officer was shot dead on the doorstep of his home in Furneux Pelham, Hertfordshire, on the night of 7 January 2004.

Former gamekeeper, Christopher Docherty-Puncheon, 31, appeared at Luton Crown Court via a video link.

He is also charged with having a shotgun with intent to commit an offence.

Mr Docherty-Puncheon is due back in court in September.
