Biker hurt in crash with fire engine in Bedfordshire

A motorcyclist suffered leg injuries in a collision with a fire engine on its way to an emergency in Bedfordshire on Tuesday night.

The crash at Bidwell Hill in Houghton Regis involved a fire engine from Dunstable on its way to a home in Westoning Road, Harlington.

Police and an ambulance were called and the man was taken to hospital.

Bedfordshire and Luton Fire and Rescue Service has started an investigation in to the incident.

A fire service spokeswoman said: "The motorcyclist is believed to have suffered a leg injury and there were no reports of injuries among the firefighters.

"The original call to Harlington was in response to an automatic fire alarm call.

"The incident was dealt with by a crew from Toddington fire station who had been mobilised at approximately the same time as Dunstable.

"They went on to deal with what turned out to be a burst pipe."
