Copper piping stolen from Hertfordshire church

Copper piping has been stolen from a church and its neighbouring buildings in Hertfordshire.

Thieves took the piping from St Nicholas Church in Almshouses, Elstree, which is currently being refurbished.

They then crawled along the loft, stealing copper from adjoining bungalows.

Police said a "large quantity" of pipework had been stolen between 1 July and 31 July and appealed for witnesses to come forward.
