Man killed in crash between four lorries on M1

A man has died in a crash between four lorries on the M1, which closed part of the motorway in Northamptonshire and Buckinghamshire.

The lorries collided on the southbound carriageway between junction 15 at Northampton and Newport Pagnell services in Buckinghamshire.

Fire crews released a man from one of the vehicles after the crash at 0445 BST but he died at the scene.

Diversions were put in place and the road reopened by 1230 BST.

Traffic queues stretched 12 miles to junction 15A at Northampton and there were delays on the A508 and A5 due to the quantity of diverted vehicles.

The other three lorry drivers sustained minor injuries.
