Three boys arrested following a confrontation with an angler who later died have been released on bail.

Josip Jovanovic, 57, of Holme Street, Bedford, collapsed soon after a row on the Embankment in Bedford on Wednesday. He died in hospital.

Three boys aged 12, 13 and 15 were arrested by police shortly after the incident.

The boys were arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and attempted robbery.

They have now been bailed until 28 September.

Detectives are still keen to hear from anyone who has information about the incident, which happened at the back of Borough Hall, formerly County Hall, at 1430 BST.

It is believed Mr Jovanovic, who had been fishing in the River Great Ouse, may have confronted a group of boys after an attempt was made to steal his bike.
