Bedford police appeal to two men in shopper coma case

Police want to talk to two men about how a man came to be seriously injured in a lay-by minutes minutes after leaving a Tesco store in Bedford.

The Polish man, who is now in a coma, left the Cardington Road store with his shopping at 1941 BST on Saturday night.

A woman passing by found him 15 minutes later lying in a lay-by near the shopping complex.

Officers want to trace two other men who were seen with the man as he was leaving the store.

The injured man is being treated at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge. His mother has flown from Poland to be at his bedside.

Police said it was not clear how he was injured.
