A 34-year-old man has appeared in court charged with murder following a fatal stabbing at a pub near Milton Keynes.

Jamie Ball, 29, the landlord of the Globe Inn at Hanslope, was taken to Milton Keynes General Hospital on Tuesday morning. He died later.

Bernardo Durantes, 34, appeared before Milton Keynes magistrates' court on Thursday and spoke only to confirm his details.

He was remanded in custody to appear at the same court on 4 January 2011.

The Crown Prosecution Service said Mr Durantes had been living at the pub since 2009.

Mr Ball and his partner had run the Globe for about 15 months, and before that had lived in Buckingham, a spokesman added.
