Emergency response charity Magpas on alert

A medical emergency response charity is stepping up activity over the new year.

Magpas, the emergency medical charity in Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire, said it will be on call on through New Year's Eve and all day on 1 January.

"It's the busiest time of the year for the ambulance service and Magpas recognise the need for 24 hour cover," a spokeswoman said.

The charity gets a doctor and paramedic to the scene of an emergency by air or vehicle very quickly.

Magpas has just launched a fundraising campaign and said it was within weeks of closing down unless money comes in.
