Luton bridge to be demolished in Station Quarter revamp

A 150-year-old footbridge in Luton has been closed off ahead of its demolition as part of the Station Quarter redevelopment.

The bridge between Bute Street and Station Road will make way for a new staircase and ground level walkway.

Luton Borough Council said the work would improve the route between the station and the town centre.

Demolition is to take place overnight on Wednesday 16 February, when Station Road will be closed at Church Street.

The walkway and staircase are expected to be ready on 1 March.
