A gun has been recovered at a jewellers in Peterborough after two men burst in and attempted an armed robbery.
The men were challenged at Harvey Daly in Long Causeway at about 1045 GMT on Friday and ran off.
The weapon, believed to be a small black handgun, was found at the scene, police said.
One of the men is described as 6ft (1.83m), in his 20s with a shaved head. He was wearing blue jeans and a dark jacket with a grey stripe on the chest.
Det Sgt Andy Tolley said: "The city centre was very busy at the time of the robbery and I would appeal to anyone who saw what happened to contact police."
