Luton restaurant mobile phone thefts warning
Diners in restaurants in Luton have been warned by police to be on their guard following a spate of distraction thefts of mobile phones.
People who leave their phone on a table have been approached by a man or men, who then engages them in conversation.
They cover the phone with a map, or whatever they are trying to sell, and take the phone from underneath while the diner is distracted.
Police said there had been three thefts over the past four weeks.
Two were in Nando's at the Galaxy Centre, and one in McDonald's at George Street.
All three victims have been young women eating with friends or family.
