Man charged with attempted murder over Bedford shooting

A 24-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder in connection with a shooting in Bedford.

Aaron Romain, of Corfe Road in the town, is accused over the shooting of Domenico Masciopinto in Redall Close on Sunday 16 January.

He was remanded in custody to appear at St Albans Crown Court on 20 April.

An Independent Police Complaints Commission inquiry is under way into how confidential information about Mr Masciopinto appeared on Facebook.

A civilian member of the custody staff at Bedford police station has already been charged with misconduct and neglecting to perform his duty.

A second man arrested this week in connection with the case has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
