Crime in Bedfordshire cut by 8.5%
Crime in Bedfordshire dropped by 8.5% in April compared with same month last year, new figures show.
A Bedfordshire Police Authority report shows drops reported in the number of crimes from 3,965 in April 2010 to 3,627 in April 2011.
However, the number of violent offences increased by 13.4% from 730 to 828.
Falls were seen in the number of sexual offences (down from 47 to 27), burglaries (down from 322 to 235) and robbery (down from 73 to 63).
Peter Conniff, chair of the authority, said: "The performance charts show some really positive results and some areas where we would have liked to see more progress."
