Bedford Borough Council consults over new housing policy
A Bedfordshire council is seeking public opinion on its housing strategy for the next five years.
The eight-week consultation is part of a series of measures by Bedford Borough Council to assess housing needs. The consultation ends on 21 May.
It says the strategy will provide an opportunity for a review of its housing priorities.
"The council has a key role to play in meeting housing need," said a council spokesperson.
"At national level there have been significant changes to how affordable housing is funded, the availability of central government funding and new tenancy regimes.
"At borough level, recent studies have provided up-to-date information on the condition of existing housing stock and how the age profile of the population is changing as people live longer.
"In the light of these changes, it is appropriate that the council updates its housing strategy for 2012-17."
Comments received through the consultation process will be considered at a future meeting of the council executive.
