Man's body is recovered from lake in Milton Keynes

The body of a 21-year-old man has been recovered from a Buckinghamshire lake.

The man, who has not yet named by police, went missing in Caldecotte Lake in Milton Keynes on Saturday evening after going for a swim.

Specialist search and rescue teams carried out an extensive search of the lake and surrounding area and found the body on Sunday morning at 11:10 BST.

Police are appealing for witnesses and a post-mortem examination is expected to be carried out later.

Det Sgt Ian Jarvis said: "It was a warm day and there may have been lots of people by the lake at that time and we would urge them to come forward and speak to us.

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious, however it is essential that we understand as fully as possible the events leading up to the tragic death of this young man.

"We would also like to emphasise that while it might be tempting to swim in lakes and rivers during this hot weather, there are hidden dangers under the water and so we would advise against doing so."
