Hatfield stabbing of Darren Leonard: Men 'seen running'

A group of men was seen running from the direction of a Hertfordshire flat where a man had been fatally stabbed, police have revealed.

Darren Leonard, of Northfield, in Hatfield, died in hospital after being found on the night of 11 July.

Police are treating his death as murder and said three or four men were seen running from the direction of Mr Leonard's flat at 23:30 BST.

Witnesses are asked to contact Hertfordshire Police.

Det Ch Insp Martin Brunning of the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said: "We are keen to speak to anyone who saw people running in the Northfield area or in the field behind Northfield, towards the shops at Oldings Corner.

"If you saw anyone acting suspiciously or you believe you know who these men were, then please get in touch with us as soon as possible.

"Your information could be vital to understanding who perpetrated this crime."
