Man rescued from River Great Ouse dies in hospital

An elderly man, rescued from a Bedfordshire river by a member of the public, has died.

The man, thought to be in his 90s, is believed to have fallen into the River Great Ouse in Bedford at about 09:00 BST on Monday.

A passer-by who pulled him out of the water attempted to revive him and the rescued man was taken to Bedford South Wing Hospital.

Bedfordshire Police is investigating how the man came to be in the river.
