Nine arrests in Luton sexual exploitation raids
Nine people have been arrested in relation to an investigation into prostitution and human trafficking in Luton.
Bedfordshire Police said four premises were raided at 07:00 GMT.
Six women and a child were taken to safety and are being cared for, police said.
Det Insp Rob Regan said police had been investigating "organised criminal gangs" bringing young women into the country for sexual exploitation.
"The operation is about alleviating the suffering of the victims and tackling the human cost this type of criminality creates," he said.
The Salvation Army is helping to care for the women and child.
The organisation's Anne Read said: "Our team has been working to assess the needs of the victims and ensure that they have access to accommodation and support at safe houses if needed."
