Woodley tenants compensated after repairs overrun
Council tenants in a Berkshire town are to be compensated after repairs to their kitchens and bathrooms overran.
Council contractors upgrading their homes meant residents were inconvenienced for several weeks.
Tina Bennett of Drovers Way lived with the contents of her kitchen in her living room while repairs were carried out.
Simon Price, head of Wokingham's tenant services team, said it had taken quick action to tackle the problem.
He added: "We now have a private sub contractor on site."
Ms Bennett said: "Finally it has been finished. It did take eight weeks though from start to finish.
"The work is lovely now it's done. It's just a shame it wasn't done a lot quicker and we weren't kept informed.
"It has really overrun on their time scales from what they told us the original works would take."
