Motorway contractor killed while placing signs on M4

A motorway contractor has been killed while placing signs on a stretch of the M4 in Berkshire.

The 38-year-old was hit by a Renault Megane as he crossed the westbound carriageway between junctions 14 and 15 near Hungerford at about 2040 BST on Wednesday.

He was taken to the Great Western Hospital in Swindon, where he died.

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses to the collision.
