Pair arrested after two men assaulted in Newbury

Two people have been arrested after a man had his throat cut and a teenager suffered a head injury.

Police said the men were hurt during two separate incidents in Newbury, Berkshire, on Saturday night.

A 19-year-old was injured in a fight involving a gang of youths in Newtown Road at about 2330 BST.

The other victim, 20, was attacked near The Oaks. Two men, 18 and 20, were arrested on suspicion of assault and bailed until 21 November.

A police spokesman said: "We are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the disturbance in the area of Newtown Road and The Oaks."

The 19-year-old man who suffered the head injury remains in Basingstoke Hospital, he added.
