Windsor ice rink set for festive return

An ice rink which proved popular in an historic Berkshire town is set to return.

The rink will be open at Alexandra Gardens, Windsor, between 11 December and 3 January.

The Royal Borough and Windsor and Eton Town Partnership will fund the rink, which will be undercover.

Tourism bosses hope it will bring in more visitors after its original success in 2005, when it was able to take 240 skaters an hour.

Councillor Colin Raynor said he hoped it would attract tourists into the town over the festive period.

"It hasn't cost the taxpayer a penny, in fact we might make a little bit of money which will help keep the rates down," he added.
