A driver had a lucky escape when his lorry burst into flames on a motorway services slip road in Berkshire.

The vehicle was carrying scrap metal when it caught alight as it entered the Moto services on the westbound M4 at Reading on Tuesday.

The driver escaped unhurt from the cab before firefighters arrived and extinguished the flames.

The slipway was closed for several hours while the area was cleared. The cause of the fire is not known.

Police said there was no indication the fire was suspicious.
