Woman and boy injured in Reading 4x4 bus stop crash
A mother and her 12-year-old son have been seriously hurt after a 4x4 vehicle crashed into a bus stop in Berkshire.
A Toyota Rav 4 struck the shelter where they were waiting in Briants Avenue, Caversham, Reading, at 1330 GMT.
The 44-year-old woman's injuries are said to be serious and life-threatening. The boy was also seriously hurt. Both were taken to hospital.
The road was closed between the junction with Nelson Road and South View Road but has since reopened.
An air ambulance was scrambled to the scene and landed in the road.
Sgt Richard Thorpe, of Thames Valley Police, said: "There were plenty of people who were in the area at the time of this collision and I urge anyone with information to come forward.
"I am particularly interested to hear from anyone who saw the Toyota being driven beforehand, and anyone who saw what happened and hasn't yet spoken to the police."
