Man steals £1,000 in robbery at Tilehurst bookmakers

A knife-wielding robber has raided a betting shop near Reading and stolen more than £1,000.

The man, aged in his 20s, was wearing a ski mask as he entered Coral Bookmakers on Overdown Road, Tilehurst.

Staff members were present at the time of the attack, though none were injured, and they tried to detain the robber, but he escaped through a window.

The incident occurred at around 2040 GMT on Monday.

Thames Valley Police described the robber as white, 5ft 9in and of skinny build.
