Lorry hits and kills pedestrian on A339 at Newbury

A pedestrian died when he was hit by an articulated lorry in Berkshire.

The man, thought to be from Hampshire, was walking on the A339 near Newbury when the accident happened near Aldern Bridge shortly before 0300 BST.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and police closed the road for more than three hours while officers investigated the cause.

Police have appealed for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
