Reading's young carers fund given £10,000 boost

Young carers in Berkshire are to get extra money to help them with their caring responsibilities.

Reading Borough Council's Young Carers Project is being given £10,000 by NHS Berkshire West Primary Care Trust.

It will be added to its existing £75,000 fund which supports more than 100 young people.

Councillor Mike Orton said: "Young people provide a vital role within their families. They deserve all the help and support we can give them."

The project arranges learning and development activities which enable members to meet other young carers of a similar age.
