Legoland in Berkshire has reopened after being shut all day on Sunday due to a power failure.

Owner Merlin Entertainments said the fault which forced the park to close was in a local substation and was out of its control.

A spokeswoman for the Windsor attraction apologised to customers.

Anyone who booked for Sunday was offered tickets on another day or entry to Chessington World of Adventures as an alternative.

Some visitors wrote on the park's Facebook page complaining of delays and a lack of information.

The spokeswoman said: "Yesterday's power failure and closure at the Legoland Windsor Resort was beyond our control and due to external issue with the supplier.

"We're incredibly sorry for the disappointment and inconvenience we know this caused but are pleased to confirm that the resort has now reopened."

She said guests with tickets would be able to transfer them to another date.
