Country park next to M40 at Banbury given go-ahead

A new country park is to be be created alongside the M40 in Oxfordshire.

Cherwell District Council plans to turn 27 hectares (67 acres) of farmland north of Banbury into a country park with ponds, woodland and a car park.

Permission to change the use of the land, which stretches both sides of the motorway, is still subject to approval by Thames Valley Police.

Part of the site also falls within the area administered by South Northamptonshire District Council.
