Two lorries crash in Berkshire closing the A34 northbound

Two lorries have collided on the A34 in Berkshire closing the northbound carriageway.

The accident happened at about 10.30 BST by the bridge of the M4 at Chievely near Newbury. A diversion route is in operation.

One person was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford with head, leg and chest injuries. Another was taken to The Royal Berkshire Hospital.

The air ambulance and eight fire appliances attended the scene.

Thames Valley Police said the road was not expected to fully reopen until 21.00 BST.
