Car burglars target five homes in Wokingham

Five Berkshire properties are believed to have been targeted in one night by the same burglars, who stole cars, cash and mobile phones.

A Vauxhall Insignia estate and a BMW 525 estate were taken during the burglaries in Wokingham on Wednesday.

Police said three homes were broken into in the Woodley and Earley areas. Two attempted burglaries are also being investigated.

Thames Valley Police believe the incidents may be linked.

The incidents took place between 01:30 BST and about 05:00 BST in Pitford Road, Colemansmore Road, Harris Close, Wroxham Road and Whitegates Lane.

Residents at the house in Wroxham Road said they saw two people wearing balaclavas approach their home but, after seeing the occupants, they left in a light blue estate Audi or Skoda.

Following the incidents, police have urged people to lock their doors and windows and keep keys out of sight of windows and letterboxes.
