Reading fire-hit house had 250 cannabis plants inside

A total of 250 cannabis plants have been recovered at a house in Reading after it caught fire, police said.

The plants were discovered at the terraced house in Liverpool Road by firefighters after the blaze broke out just after 05:30 GMT on Sunday.

Investigations by police and fire crews are continuing with the cause of the blaze still unknown.

No one was in the house at the time. Neighbouring residents were evacuated after smoke spread to their homes.
