Woman's body found in Berkshire field in missing person search

The body of woman has been found in a field in Berkshire.

The discovery was made by police carrying out a search in the Arborfield area in connection with a missing person inquiry.

The body was found in the field off Robin Hood Copse, between Castle Hill and Eversley Road, at about 13:00 BST.

Police said no formal identification had been made, but added the family of the missing woman were being kept updated.

Det Ch Insp Gill Wootton from Thames Valley Police said: "This investigation is in its very early stages and we will now be carrying out extensive inquiries."

She added a cordon was in place around where the body was found to enable an examination of the scene to be carried out.
