Reading Borough Council has been given a £55,500 grant to help restore its woodlands.
The cash from the Forestry Commission will go towards a five-year project covering 18 overgrown woodlands across 90 hectares.
Work will include tree thinning, pond creation and footpath improvements to encourage public access.
The council is due to hold community consultations to explain the planned works to residents.
The first phase of project is expected to start in the autumn.
