Organisers of one of Berkshire's biggest annual outdoor events are to form a registered charity to run it.

More than 10,000 people attend the Newbury Carnival each summer.

Chairman Bryan Harper said a move to become a registered charity, with support from the Greenham Common Trust, was necessary as a volunteer-run event was "no longer sustainable".

He added it would also allow "professional support" for this year's carnival scheduled for 5 July.
