The unexplained deaths of two residents of a nursing home in Berkshire are being investigated by police.

A 93-year-old woman died in hospital on 8 February after staying at Birdsgrove Nursing Home in Bracknell.

Two people have been arrested in connection with the death on suspicion of ill treatment or wilful neglect of a person without mental capacity.

On 31 January, an 86-year-old resident also died in hospital. Police said the deaths are not being linked.

The joint investigation includes the Health and Safety Executive, Care Quality Commission and Bracknell council.

The people arrested are a 43-year-old man from Hillingdon, west London, and a 19-year-old woman from Bracknell.
